So you’re ready to move past bodyweight squats and finally start lifting — love that for you 💪

But let’s be honest: the gym can feel intimidating. You want to go heavy, get stronger, and actually see muscle definition… but not injure yourself on day one.

Here’s your go-to beginner lifting blueprint:

🧠 1. Learn Form First

Before you load the barbell, master bodyweight and dumbbell versions of big lifts: squats, hip thrusts, lunges, rows. Use mirrors, record yourself, or — best option — work with a coach (hi 💘) to make sure your form is solid.

🔁 2. Start with Reps, Then Weight

Keep reps moderate (8–12), focus on time under tension, and only increase load once form is 💯. Lifting heavy is about progress over time, not ego-lifting on day one.

🛡 3. Warm Up Properly

Dynamic warm-ups (think: glute bridges, bird-dogs, mobility drills) prep your joints, activate muscles, and prevent injuries. Don’t skip this — your knees and lower back will thank you.

📓 4. Track Your Progress

You don’t need fancy tech — just a note in your phone with sets, reps, and weight used. Progress = confidence. Confidence = results.

🫶 5. Ask for Help

No one is born knowing how to deadlift. Ask a coach, gym staff, or even YouTube (if you're solo) — but never be afraid to ask. Every strong woman started somewhere.
