How to Feel Confident in the Gym (Even If You’re a Total Beginner) 💘

We’ve all had that moment. You walk into the gym, see a sea of machines, sweaty men grunting in the corner, and suddenly you’re questioning every life decision that got you here.

So first things first — you’re not alone. Feeling nervous in the gym is so normal. But guess what? Confidence is something you can build, just like muscle 💪

Here’s how to go from “What the hell is a barbell?” to “Catch me in the squat rack like a queen.” 👑

🌈 1. Go In With a Plan

Confidence starts with knowing what you’re doing. Wandering around with no clue = instant awkwardness. My advice? Follow a beginner-friendly programme (like the ones in my coaching app), so you know exactly what exercises to do, how to do them, and what’s next.

No guesswork. No panic. Just purpose.

🎧 2. Music = Main Character Energy

Pop in your headphones, blast your gym playlist, and enter your own little bubble. The truth? Most people are too focused on themselves to even notice you. When your theme song is giving “Hot Girl Gym Era,” your energy shifts.

💖 3. Start in the Comfort Zone

You don’t have to dive into the free weights section on day one. Start with machines, dumbbells, or even bodyweight moves in a quiet corner. As your confidence grows, you can branch out.

And yes, it’s okay to Google how to use a machine. I still do sometimes. No shame in the learning game 🫶

🧠 4. Reframe Your Inner Critic

Instead of thinking: ❌ “Everyone’s watching me.” Try: ✅ “I’m doing something amazing for myself — go me.” Confidence is built through repeated action. The more you show up, the less you’ll care what anyone thinks (because most of them don’t).

🏋️ 5. Work With a Coach

The ultimate hack? Having someone guide you, support you, and hold your hand through the process. That’s what I do for my clients every day — whether it’s form feedback, hyping them up, or helping them build the best gym plan for their goals.

🌻 Final Thoughts

You deserve to feel strong, empowered, and proud in every rep — whether it’s your first time lifting or your 100th.
